Free and low-cost public testing
The Florida Department of Health says its county health departments provide STI screening, counseling, treatment and education. For HIV, its testing site says health departments charge a minimal fee and nothing to people who can't afford it, and Florida residents can order a free at-home HIV test kit by mail.

Testing for minors
Florida Statutes §384.30 lets the health department, licensed physicians and nurses, and hospitals and clinics examine and treat any minor for a sexually transmissible disease without a parent's or guardian's consent. The visit is confidential and can't be disclosed, directly or indirectly, for example by sending a bill to a parent, except as state law provides.
Expedited partner therapy
CDC lists expedited partner therapy as permissible in Florida since July 1, 2016, under Florida Statutes §384.27. A clinician who diagnoses or suspects a sexually transmissible disease can provide treatment for a partner who is unable or unlikely to get care in time, and a pharmacist can fill that prescription even though the partner wasn't examined.
Medicaid at Planned Parenthood
Florida is not among the seven states that KFF listed in June 2026 as barring Planned Parenthood from Medicaid; KFF counts it among the states whose exclusions courts blocked before the Supreme Court's Medina ruling. Planned Parenthood says the federal provision that blocked its Medicaid payments expired on July 4, 2026, and asks Medicaid patients to check with their health center. Planned Parenthood of Florida lists Florida Medicaid, including Family Planning Only, among the insurance it accepts.

Free option: public clinics
Free and low-cost testing is available at health department clinics and Title X family planning clinics. CDC's GetTested site finds confidential, free or low-cost testing near you by ZIP code.
What to expect
- Clinics usually test for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV, and often hepatitis B and C, following CDC screening advice for your age, anatomy and the kind of sex you have.
- A clinician can examine you, swab sores and often treat you in the same visit.
- Some tests sold in private panels are usually not offered without symptoms, such as herpes blood tests and HPV tests for men, because CDC doesn't recommend them as screening tests.
- Hours can be limited, and you may wait for an appointment or a walk-in slot.
- Free testing usually isn't anonymous either (some publicly funded sites offer anonymous HIV testing). Positive results for reportable infections are reported to the health department, confidentially.
Questions about STD testing in Miami
Hours and services change. Call ahead or check the clinic's own page before you go.
Where can I get a free STD test in Miami?
AHF says STD and HIV testing are always free at its Wellness Centers on Biscayne Boulevard and in South Beach, with or without insurance, and both take walk-ins. Care Resource offers no-cost HIV and STI testing at its Midtown and Little Havana health centers, and Latinos Salud says its testing is nearly always free. The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County tests for chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV at low or no cost, and the state health department offers free at-home HIV test kits to Florida residents.
Do I need an appointment at the Miami-Dade health department STD clinic?
Yes. The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County asks you to call 305-575-3800 to schedule. Its clinic at the Health District Center, 1350 NW 14th St., is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and closes at noon on the first and third Fridays of the month. The West Perrine Health Center tests on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. To walk in instead, try an AHF Wellness Center, or a Planned Parenthood health center, which sees walk-ins as capacity allows.
Can teens get tested without a parent in Miami?
Yes. Florida law (§384.30) lets clinics, doctors and nurses examine and treat a minor for a sexually transmissible disease without a parent's consent, and the visit stays confidential: it can't be disclosed, for example by sending a bill to a parent. Planned Parenthood of Florida says minors can consent to confidential care without parental notification, though it encourages them to include a parent or another responsible adult. It offers discounted STD testing to teens 13 to 18.
Can I use Medicaid for STD testing in Miami?
Yes, at many sites. Planned Parenthood of Florida accepts Florida Medicaid, including Family Planning Only, and several Medicaid plans. Care Resource and Jessie Trice Community Health System accept Medicaid and offer a sliding fee scale if you're uninsured. Florida is not among the seven states that KFF listed in June 2026 as barring Planned Parenthood from Medicaid.
Can I order an STD test online in Miami?
Yes. The price table on this page shows the providers that sell in Florida, each price with the date we checked it. You order and pay online, then give a sample at a lab near you, or use a home kit. Some providers let you order and give a sample the same day.
